NOT JUST HUNTING & FISHING

What is the Fergus Falls Fish & Game Club?

We are a group of sportsmen and women working together as conservationists to improve and care for our regions natural resources.

Besides being a place where people with a passion and excitement for the outdoors, hunting and fishing can get together, we also have a passion for preserving the land we use around Fergus Falls.

We differ from many fish and game clubs due to our ownership of large amounts of public hunting land (1,100 acres) and our commitment to improve and create new habitats, whether on our land or the various state (WMA’s) and federal (WPA’s) lands in our area.

Come to one of our next meetings and join us! We look forward to meeting you and hearing all about your fish and game stories

Celebrating 100 Years of Conservation!

Fergus Falls Fish & Game Club

The Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club (FFF&GC) was founded in 1920. The club’s initial purpose was support of game wardens. It wasn’t long before they were stocking game fish, raising and releasing waterfowl, and feeding wildlife. By the end of WWII, the FFF&GC had gotten the message on the importance of fish and wildlife habitat.

Ever since, the club’s members have kept habitat restoration, protection, and management as a core value. The FFF&GC was instrumental in re-establishing giant Canada geese to West Central Minnesota during the 1960s. As the decade came to a close, the FFF&GC adopted environmental education as one of its highest priorities. They successfully forged a dynamic partnership to make the Prairie Wetland Learning Center a reality in 1994. In addition to sponsoring youth winter and summer fishing days, senior citizen fishing outings, firearms safety classes, regional scouting programs, school science and nature classes and Woodie Camp, conservation education is still front an center for club members.

More recently, the work of the FFF&GC reflects both its deep roots and new opportunities. They have assisted federal and state conservation agencies with the acquisition of over 3,000 acres of wildlife habitat. The club is an active participant in the Outdoor Heritage Fund’s Conservation Legacy Grant Program completing habitat work valued at nearly one third of a million dollars. The FFF&GC itself owns and manages over 1,100 acres of wildlife habitat – all open for public use and enjoyment.

The FFF&GC is proud to have played a small but integral part of habitat protection, management and conservation education in Western Otter Tail County for the past 100 years!
